Longing for His Word

Revival begins when Christians make God’s word central in their lives.

Scripture for Reflection and Preparation (HCSB)

Psalm 119:36-40

“36 Turn my heart to Your decrees and not to material gain.  37 Turn my eyes from looking at what is worthless; give me life in Your ways.  38 Confirm what You said to Your servant, for it produces reverence for You.  39 Turn away the disgrace I dread; indeed, Your judgments are good.  40 How I long for Your precepts!  Give me life through Your righteousness.”

Jeremiah 15:16

“16 Your words were found, and I ate them.  Your words became a delight to me and the joy of

my heart, for I am called by Your name, Lord God of Hosts.”

Matthew 4:4

“4 But He answered, ‘It is written: Man must not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Preparation

• Praise God for who He is
• Confess your sinfulness and need for cleansing
• Allow His Spirit to draw you near
• Listen as He speaks to you

Petition (ask God to…)

• Give you a deep thirst for His word
• Reveal Himself to you as you read His word
• Reveal the beauty of His word to you
• Help you apply the truths in His word to your life
• Show you areas of your life that need to be surrendered to Him
• Help you realize the depth of His love as you read His word
• Help you trust Him more as you learn more about Him from His word

Thanksgiving

• Thank God for hearing you
• Trust that God is at work to accomplish His will
